Comments

The North Rim Village of Grand Canyon National Park is located approximately 6 hours by car from the much more frequented South Rim Village . Supplies and services are limited with the closest full service station located in Jacob Lake 45 miles to the north. Cell phone coverage is spotty and the closest medical facilities are located in Fredonia , Arizona and Kanab , Utah .

Average highs are around 73 degrees and average lows are around 40 degrees. Due to the North Rim's alpine environment please come prepared for any and all weather conditions.

There may be a very limited amount of camping gear including tents and sleeping bags available from the park. If you need gear please call ahead to confirm availability.

Vegetation Program Volunteer Days on the North Rim: June 24-27, 2010

Overview

Grand Canyon National Park 's idyllic North Rim will be the location of this Vegetation Program Volunteer Trip. At almost 8,000 feet above sea level, the North Rim's tranquility, aspen trees, and immense panoramic views will surely be a delight during this great opportunity to help preserve native vegetation in some of Grand Canyon 's 1,200,000 acres. You will be helping Vegetation staff maintain restoration sites and remove non-native plants. While you are at the Park, our staff will educate you about the history, plants, and park ecosystems. Hope to see you there!
